Meet Our New Baby

I won't beat around the bush....we have a referral for a 6.5 month old baby girl born June 16th, 2010. She is healthy and has been living with a foster family since birth. Her foster family reports she is very happy and only cries when hungry or tired (she sounds like me already :>)!
We weren't expecting this at all until this summer so we are a bit shocked! Davis and I were in the kitchen baking oatmeal raising cookies for Milon when I got the call. I looked at the phone number and didn't recognize the number and almost didn't pick it up since Davis was in charge of making these cookies all by himself! It was our social worker in Winston-Salem saying she had a file for us to look at but we would have to drive to Winston-Salem tomorrow in order for her to review the file with us. I called Milon at work and of course he didn't answer. I call right back again and since I never call him twice in a row he picked up asking what was wrong. I told him he better be sitting down that we had a referral.
Thursday, I dropped the kids off at preschool and we headed to WS to review her file. She is beautiful and healthy. There wasn't one thing in her file that left us with any doubt she is ours! We completed all of her acceptance paperwork last night while the kids pretended to be "snowboarding" through the house!
I assumed it would be 6 months before we could pick her up but today I got another surprise. Our agency said it would be 2-3 months! That is fabulous b/c Davis won't have started Kindergarten yet. I was so worried about missing his first day and the 6 month mark was right when he would start.
Now starts the preparing. First things first, I have to get Leah in a big girl bed. I dread it! Naptime is just so easy right now but she is looking quite large in her crib. Thank goodness I have all of her clothes so really I will just be buying a few baby items like bottles, bibs, etc.
I hope to be able to update the blog like we did for Leah's adoption. Frankly, I don't see myself being able to do it as well but will try my best so she has it to read later on.
